What is a Shiatsu massage?

Shiatsu massage is a Japanese massage whose tradition dates back 5,000 years. It has the advantage over the usual relaxation massage that, while miraculously relaxing and unwinding, it also unblocks stagnant energy and strengthens ki energy. Why is this so important? According to traditional Chinese medicine, any stagnant energy is a disease: of the organ, of the psyche, of the spirit. A practitioner of the art of shiatsu massage listens to your body’s energetic messages, removing these blockages by stimulating acupressure points. In doing so, it activates your natural self-healing potential.

What does a Shiatsu massage look like?

A shiatsu massage is very pleasant and relaxing while affecting internal organs and systems. It awakens the potential of the body and mind to overcome illness and ailments. It combines elements of gentle muscle stretching, contemporary massage techniques and acupressure. This is why it is often referred to as acupuncture without needles or point massage. The word “shiatsu” means “thumb pressure” in Japanese, but the masseur also uses pressure with the hands, elbows, forearms and feet. The whole body is massaged with the exception of the intimate zones; the client receives disposable underwear for the massage.
